    Please be as detailed as possible in this application to help us better understand your situation.

    Things to remember when applying to the program

    • Applications will be considered for this application period ONLY. If an applicant is not successful during this period, they will need to reapply again once there is another spot available.
    • mYplace will have an occupancy agreement of up to a maximum of four years less a day or up until the applicants 30th birthday, whichever comes first.
    • Please designate on the application form if the client has a preferred method of contact. We will default to their email address unless otherwise specified.
    • If you are a service provider completing a referral, we ask that you complete the Service Provider Referral Form to give us a clearer picture of the client you are referring.
    • If you have a service provider, please also complete the attached Release of Information form so we can communicate with them.
    • The Service Provider Referral Form is not required but is recommended if you have external supports.

    Notes On Eligibility

    • mYplace prioritizes applicants who identify within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
    • Young adults 18-29
    • Earning a low income which would put them at risk of homelessness
    • Possess the ability to live independently and care for their own basic physical needs (e.g. can clothe, bathe, and feed themselves).
    • Agree to work within the program guidelines toward greater independence and self-sufficiency
    • Able to contribute a portion of their monthly income toward the occupancy
    • Are working or in school

    Other Expectations

    • To participate in the mYplace, you are expected to be able to care and purchase your basic needs, including personal hygiene, medication, food, and cleaning and maintenance of your unit.
    • You are expected to check in with your worker and have regularly scheduled meetings to ensure you are developing a permanent housing plan and working towards your personal goals.
    • Follow the rules as set forth in the Transitional Housing Occupancy Agreement, YMCA Program Agreement, Good Neighbour Agreement, and Program Guidelines
    • Residents will be required to set up a direct payment of their rental portion for the 1st of each month
    • As this is an independent housing program you are required to ensure the general maintenance and cleaning of the unit, without support from staff. Maintenance concerns that exceed your ability and that would fall under a program concern, including damaged or broken appliances, problems with plumbing, heating or electrical or a serious concern are to be reported.

  • Thank you for your interest in mYplace. We welcome you to a unique housing program designed specifically to meet the needs of Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Nonbinary, Queer and Questioning (2SLGBTQIA+) youth ages 18 to 29.


    Successful applicants can stay for 4 years or until a person turns 30 years of age. Those living in mYplace are expected to work with staff and other participants towards increasing their independence and finding permanent housing.


    The questions in the application form are meant to tell us your story and what’s been happening in your life. Most importantly, it will allow us to figure out how best to support you if you are accepted to be housed at mYplace. Please include as much information as you are comfortable sharing.
